Day 2: Smooth sailing.

Today's ride went much better than yesterdays as we traveled downhill for the majority of the ride. There were a few climbs that reminded us that we were fat flatlanders, but compared to yesterday it was easy.
Our bikes are holding up pretty well, with one exception. J's rear wheel threw a spoke, but it had the courtesy to wait until we got to the hut and were checking our bikes over. We lacked the proper tools to put a new spoke in proper way as the cassette impeded lacing the soke through easily. We managed to get it done by bending the spoke around everything and relying on the tension to straighten it out. It has to be better than having nothing there to spread out the load.
J is making dinner tonight; speghetti and Spam. The food selection is pretty impressive and the four of us have good appetites. We are also not picky eaters, hence the speghetti with Spam. Last night we just ate Hormel beef stew with some diced tomatoes with green chiles mixed in, all over cous cous. This is really turning out to be a gormet tour of Colorado.
I slept like poop last night so I think that I'll down a cup of Franzia, nothing but the best for us, and hope that helps me snooze tonight. I'll let you know in tomorrow's post if it helped.
